St. Augustine is a city on the northeast coast of Florida. It lays claim to being the oldest city in the U.S., and is known for its Spanish colonial architecture as well as Atlantic Ocean beaches like sandy St. Augustine Beach and tranquil Crescent Beach. The Castillo de San Marcos is a 17th-century Spanish stone fortress with views of the St. Augustine Inlet.  It is one of the best cities in Florida.  It is only 45 minutes south of Jacksonville, FL.  Lots to do in the area.








Flagler Hospital ( in St. Augustine, FL is seeking a VP of HR & Education.  It has a rich history mixed with innovative technology. Since its founding in 1889, this private, not-for-profit facility has grown into 335 beds with 1,600 employees, an acute care center that is consistently recognized nationally for overall clinical excellence. 

The hospital has consistently ranked among the top 5% in the nation for clinical excellence and patient safety for nearly a decade and was Northeast Florida's first hospital to receive the ANCC Magnet hospital award. Most recently, the hospital earned five stars for heart attack treatment, the Gold Seal of Approval™ from The Joint Commission for Primary Stroke Care Centers, Center of Excellence Designation for its Bariatric Surgery Center, and national accreditation for total knee and total hip replacement surgery.



We are seeking a can-do hands-on management style.  The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of all HR functions as well as educational programs. Transitional leadership is key.  The hospital is going through changes and HR is the lead department to making these changes happen.  HR is implementing a performance base program and the next VP will have experience in such an environment.

A four-year college degree is required.  A Master’s degree is preferred.  A SHERM certification is required.  Must have 5 to 10 years of experience as either a Director or VP of HR.

The HR department has 11 FTEs and the Education department has 9 FTEs.  There are 3 Managers in HR and a Director of Education.  The EAP program also reports to HR.

The position reports to the Chief Performance Officer.  This person currently holds the title of VP of HR and was recently promoted to CPO.  She is an outstanding leader and one whom would be an excellent person to work with.
